AGED PORTLAND WOMAN DIES OF INJURIES
Mrs. Arminda Jane Strunk, 78 years old, of Portland, died late yesterday afternoon in the Portland Hospital from injuries sustained on the night of May 24, when she was struck by the automobile of Isador Kaban, of Scranton.
Mrs. Strunk was standing aside of the road talking to a neighbor and tried to cross to get to her home in front of the approaching auto. Kaban swerved and jammed on his brakes in an effort to avoid hitting the woman, but was unsuccessful. He was released on his own recognizance after Corporal Tapp of the State Highway patrol conducted an investigation of the accident.
Mrs. Strunk who was the widow of David I. Strunk, was a life-long resident of Portland and vicinity.
She is survived by the following children; Mrs. Sadie Barker, Newark, Miss Mary E. Strunk, Bloomfield, N.J., Arthur Strunk, of Stroudsburg, Mrs. J.E. Weirich, of Cape Hills, Pa., Mrs. John I Lewis and Philip Strunk, of Portland; also by 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and the following brothers and sister; Mrs. Sallie Poff Lansinger, of Philadelphia, Philip and George Sigafoos, of Slateford.
Funderal services will be held on Friday at 2 pm, daylight saving time, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John L. Lewis, of Portland, with further services in the Portland Baptist church in charge of the pastor, Rev. Joseph Breen and interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Portland.
