Dr. Cullen Battle died in Eufaula recently. He was an aged patriot.

Prof. W. P. Bass, 45, died of consumption in Oaky Streak on the 20th.  His wife died only a week ago.

Barrett, Elizabeth [Hatch] - 1881

Mrs. Elizabeth Barrett, 84, died on the 12th. She was survived by her husband, Joshua Barrett, 85, who lived in the same place where he moved in 1828. They were married in 1818. She was survived also by her sons, Andrew J. and Anderson J. Barrett.

Mr. A. Barnett, father of M. J. R. Barnett, died in Greenville on Thursday last of paralysis (3/7/1878).  Alexander Burnett <sic> 78, a native of S. C. died at his residence in Greenville.  For about 50 years had been a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Telitha Barge, 87, born July 1841, has died in Birmingham at the home of D. W. McCall.  She was the relict of T. H. Barge, son, Cliff Barge of Greenville and a sister, Miss Sallie Trawick of Monterey.  Was buried in village cemetery in Monterey.

James F. Barganier died at his residence in Butler Co. August 27th, aged 84 years.  He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church over 40 years and was a member of the Farmer’s Alliance.  He was survived by his second wife, five sons and two daughters.

Gray, child of Tom Ghent, child of Taylor Ghent, Joe Bell, Mrs. James Rankin, and Paul Arons have all died in Brewton during the solemn visitation.
