Emlen, Sally [Mott] - 1799

1799, 30 December
Sam'l Emlen died in the 70th year of his age.  He was husband to my beloved friend E. Moode, between 5 & 6 years, and since to Sally Mott for 26 years.

Jones, Absalom (Parson) - 1799

Jacob Turner and Sarah Needham [the Drinker servants] were, I expect, joined in the bonds of matrimony this evening by Parson Absalom Jones.

We are informed of the death of Owen Biddle [druggist, age 61], and Clifford Smith.  H. Smith, formerly Stevenson is left with three children.  She is a young widow.

Stevenson, Hannah [Hicks] - 1794

On seventh day evening last Clifford Smith was married to Hannah Stevenson, daughter of Robt Stevenson; her mother Hannah Stevenson, formerly Hicks, was an intimate and dear friend of my sister and self.

Hertzog, F. F. (Rev.) - 1937

Special Services in M.B.C. Church Next Week

Rev. P.T. Stengele, of Bethlehem, will speak on Tuesday evening, March 9th.  A
number of songs will be sung in the German language.  A short address will be
given by the pastor in German.

Rev. F.F. Hertzog, Allentown, a former pastor here, will speak on Friday evening,
March 12.  He will be accompanied by some who will bring messages in song service
at 7:45 P.M.

Heckman, Fred (Mrs.) - 1937

Nazareth Red Cross Furnished $2,201.50

Mrs. Fred Heckman, chairman of the local chapter of The American Red Cross, announced that the total collected by the local chapter for flood relief amounted to $2,201.50, all of which was forwarded to the Easton chapter.

The chairman wishes to thank the citizens of Nazareth and immediate communities for the splendid support given the local chapter in most generous contributions.

The parishioners of the local Evangelical Church were glad to learn that Rev. W. S. Harris will be retained by them for another year.  So was the decision rendered at the Annual Conference held in the Ebenezer Evangelical Church, Allentown, last week.  This is the ninth consecutive year that Rev Harris served this congregation.

Heard of the death of Doct. Dodd; Joseph Hewlings [ge 50 years] dead.  Henry Darrock said to be dead.  Parson Sprout's daughter, sometime ago; Henry Mayer's wife also dead.  Looking over a list of persons buried in Friends burying ground, I met with several names that I had not before heard of, among them were the following: Jane Warner, from the Almshouse; Hannah Cadwalader, Morris Dickinson, shoemaker; F. Hoopes [Fanny Hoopes, age 17], Eliza Austin, widow Peters and 2 children, a daughter and apprentice of B. Olden, Jos. Hill, Enoch Taylor [aged 36 years] and daughter Abigail Taylor [aged 1 year and 8 months], Danl Trotter Jr. [aged 84 years], Ben. Holten, John Stall Jr., Charles Smithfield [Charles Williams Smithfield, aged about 38 years], Aaron Kimber, Edwd Reese [aged about 24 years], Eliza Volans, Nathaniel Barnes' wife, Anthony Sharp [-Sharpe, aged about 30 years], Geo. Cribs, Joshua Pearson [aged about 73 years] from Almshouse, Sarah Briton [-Britton, aged 40 years], widow Jackson [Ann, aged about 60 years], William Boice's wife [William Boyce], &c.
