Thorstein B. Veblen (1857-1929)
American economist and author was born on a Wisconsin farm. He was educated at Carleton College and at Yale University, and taught political economy at the University of Chicago and Stanford University.
In 1918 he became a teacher in the New School for Social Research, New York. His publications include the theory of the leisure class, the theory of business enterprise, and the engineers and the price system.
