Among the victims of the Northfield Vermont railroad disaster, was Geo. R. Bancroft, of Burlington, a young man of fine character and an excellent mechanic. He was among the first found, crushed under the tender of the engine, but refused assistance, saying; “Help the other boys; there is no help for me,” and died in ten minutes.
