In Army Air Center
Cadet James J. McElwain, 21, son of Mrs. Virginia Mae McElwain, of {708 North Third street xx [smeared scan]} ___tered the classification canter at the army air center. Nashville, Tennessee.At the center Cadet McElwain will take physical and psychological examinations to determine for which branch of aircrew service, bombardiering, <sic> navigating or piloting, he is best fitted. Physical training, academic study, and military drill are also part of cadet training at the center. This is the first stop in a training program that will eventually graduate Cadet McElwain as a commissioned officer with wings, in the army air forces.
Cadet McElwain is a graduate of Bellwood High School, where he played on the basketball team. His sister, Edna, is an ensign in the WAVES.
