Death Fall From Roller Coaster
Santa Cruz (UPI) – Peter A. Abila, 22, Oakland, last weekend, fell 65 feet to his death from a roller coaster at the beach amusement park here.
Authorities were investigating to determine how the accident occurred.
Detective Sergeant Charles Scherer said it was a “physical impossibility” to be thrown ut, once the train started. A bar pocked the passengers in their seats, he said.
“The only way to get out is to struggle to release yourself”, he added.
Police said the accident was not due to a mechanical failure of the train.
Two friends sitting in front of Abila, William M. Hall and William J. Withers, both of Oakland, said they did not see what happened.
