Eastern Caucasus, 1870-1871; night manager Associated Press, Washington,
1877-1885; investigated Russian exile system in Siberia, 1885-1886; since then
lecturer in U.S. and Great Britain. In
May, 1898, went to Cuba on the steamship State of Texas, with American National
Red Cross Society, and as special commissioner for The Outlook; went to
Martinique for The Outlook to study volcano Mont Pele, May, 1902; went to
Japan, Mar.., 1904, to report Russo-Japanese War for The Outlook; on staff
McClure's Magazine, 1907, The Outlook, 1909; vice president Medina Tribune
Publishing Corporation since 1923.
