A Lawrence Printer Killed.
A sad accident occurred last evening at Kansas City just as the Santa Fe plug was pulling out. C. M. Wilhite, a young man who for some time past had been employed as a printer on the Journal, attempted to leave the moving train. He fell and his head striking on the truck, his neck was broken and his skull crushed.Wilhite was a young married man and an honest, industrious fellow. His wife a short time ago went to St. Joseph, Mo. where she obtained employment in the show making establishment of Tootle, Hosea & Co., and the unfortunate man had left Lawrence to join her. On his person was found her letter, in which she implored him to come to her as soon as possible, called him all the endearing names possible and said that if he remained away much longer she would go crazy.
Whilhite’s father is a real estate dealer in Wichita and telegrams announcing the accident were sent to him and the bereaved wife. An inquest was held in Kansas City to-day.
