Gaines, William W. - 1833

New Iron Foundry.
IN addition to his Gin Stand Factory, the subscriber is putting in operation, an Iron Foundry, expressly for casting Machinery Irons, suited to the Southern demand for Gins, Mills, and such other gearing as may be required, to wit: Segments, for Face or Spur Wheels, to fit wheels of any diameter required.  Planters' will find it economical to repair their Cog-Wheels by Iron Segments.  It will only be necessary to drive out or saw off the old cogs, and the segment, can be fitted as on a new wheel.

A cast Trundle or pinion can be fitted as to require but a little labor to repair a wheel with iron cogs, the durability of which is undoubted.  Wing gudgeons will also be furnished, with every description of wrought irons that may be necessary.  All irons that require turning, will be turned and fitted so as to give the mill-wright no labor except fitting them to the wood-work.  The establishment will at all times be supplied with a pattern maker, and no extra charge made for patterns, except such as cannot be made useful to the establishment.

He would remark that his Gin Factory will be continued as formerly.  The Saws of all Gins manufactured by him are of English steel, imported.  He will warrant every article which he sells, to be of the best material, neatly made, and to work well.  Persons living at a distance will only have to forward their orders for such articles as they may require, which will be punctually attended to and forwarded as directed.
