James Parks Caldwell
Born in Monroe, Butler County, Ohio, March 27, 1841. A.B. [Bachelor of Arts], Miami University, 1857. Teacher in Mississippi, 1858-1859. Principal, Palmetto Academy, Panola County, Mississippi, 1860 and 1865-1866. served as private and first lieutenant of artillery , C. S. Army, in divisions of Loring, Gardiner, Breckenridge, and Bowen. Admitted to the bar of the state of Mississippi, 1866. Attorney-at-law, San Bernadino, California, and Los Angeles, California, 1867-1875. Edited newspapers in Ohio; from 1887 practiced law in Gulfport and Biloxi, Mississippi. Died April 5, 1912.
