Montgomery, James E., Miner
March 13, 1890, 1st District, Catsburg Colliery, Washington County.
Instantly killed by being run over by a dilly trip. This unfortunate man, with his son, were going to work, and when near the mouth of No. 8 entry the son said, “father the trip is coming, get out of the way.” The father either did not hear him or wanted to get farther in. The cars on the trip threw him down, and from the evidence in my investigation, must have dragged the body 84 feet. Inquest held and a verdict of accidental death rendered. Age 61. Married. Seven orphans.
