Gidock, Andy - 1889

Micloska, Mich., Miner, Age 29.  Married.  Four Orphans.
Gidock, Andy, Miner, Age 26.  Married.  Two Orphans.
September 23, 1889, 5th District, Monarch Colliery, Fayette County.
Both of these men were killed by the foolhardy act of one of them jumping on the cage after it was under headway and fully two feet from the bottom; it seems that the jumper's pick caught on the shaft timbers and that pulled him back, then the other man either lost his life by trying to rescue his fellow miner, or else became so excited that he lost his presence of mind and fell down between the cage and shaft.
