Fitch, John - 1889

Fitch, John, Miner
May 31, 1889, 1st District, Acme Colliery, Washington County.
Injured fatally by a fall of coal.  Mr. Fitch and a son worked together at the time of the accident.  While the deceased was at work, the son said “Father I hear something working;” the latter turned around from his work to come out, but before he could do so, the coal fell crushing him in such a manner that he only lived a short time after being taken out of the mine.  Age 65.  Married.  Twelve children.
