NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE.
The anniversary this year happening on Sunday, (to-morrow,) the celebrations will generally take place on Monday, the 5th. In this town there is to be no public celebration, but all, great and small, old and young, male and female, will do and act on that day pretty much as they please. It is the day when boys show their independence by firing crackers contrary to law, and making night hideous with their awful noises.
In Bristol there is to be a public celebration. Rev. James W. Smith, of Lowell, is to be the orator. In the evening there is to be a display of Fire Works.
Providence will be the great centre of attraction from this place. An oration will be delivered by Willard Sayles, Esq., and a poem by Cyrus G. Dyer, Esq. The services will take place in the First Baptist Church. The Warren Artillery, and the Newport Artillery will join in the celebration. The festivities of the day will be closed by an exhibition of Fire Works.
In Fall River, Hon. John C. Park, of Boston, is to deliver the oration.
