A Half Century.--
Mrs. Edward S. Sturgis was fifty years of age
on Friday. She was expecting a twin sister, Mrs. Henry F. Rauch, of
Philadelphia, to spend the day with her, but sickness prevented. Other
friends remembered the anniversary, however, and about a hundred called
during the day to tender congratulations, nearly all bearing useful
presents.
Mrs. Sturgis was doubly surprised when a
party of twelve relatives came from Lancaster well supplied with edibles
and substantial souvenirs of the occasion. The day was one long to be
remembered with pleasurable emotions as a communion of hearts bound by
ties of friendship and of nature.
