William L. "Bill" Horner, age 78, of Oliveburg, passed away peacefully
on 23 May 2018, in Punxsutawney, surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on 25 May 1939, in Punxsutawney to the late William Horner and Nellie Burkett.
After
attending the Punxsutawney Area High School, he enlisted in the United
States Army. Following his military service, he began employment with
T.W. Phillips before becoming a successful small business owner. He was
the owner and operator of H & H Supply, H & H Supply II, Horner
Plastics & ACM Transportation Systems.
He was also an avid
farmer and an independent gas well producer, and he enjoyed traveling to
Costa Rica. But above all else, his greatest legacy was helping his
family, friends and customers.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy
(Carpino) Horner; two children, Rick Horner and wife Pam and Jody
Umbaugh and husband Scot; two stepsons, Steve Burkett and Troy Burkett
and wife Lisa; two sisters, Maxine Depp and Genevieve Harriger; eight
grandchildren, Andy Horner, Chad Horner and wife Jessica, Misti Horner,
Tristan Umbaugh, Cody Umbaugh, Andrea Burkett, Emma Burkett and Brice
Burkett; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald "Guy" Horner.
Friends were received at the Deeley Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at the funeral home with Pastor John Swanger.
Following the services,interment was made at the Oliveburg Cemetery.
